Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) is one of the most personal and profound decisions a person can make. It can stir emotions of clarity, fear, grief, peace, and uncertainty, sometimes all at once. My role is not medical, but to walk alongside you with compassion, presence, and steady support through each stage of this journey.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly, explore what matters most, and feel supported in making choices that align with your values and wishes.
How I Can Support You:
Every journey is unique. My support is always tailored to you, but may include:
Counselling & Emotional Support
Contemplating VAD can bring a wide range of emotions: fear, relief, sadness, peace, uncertainty, or even all of these at once. In our sessions, I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can speak openly and be met with deep listening and non-judgement. Together we can explore your feelings, values and wishes, give voice to what matters most to you, and find ways of easing distress and strengthening your sense of peace and clarity. This is a space for you to be fully seen, heard and supported, exactly as you are.
Practical Guidance & Advocacy:
The VAD process can sometimes feel overwhelming or confusing. I can help you understand each stage in a clear, gentle way, and support you with the practical steps involved. This may include contacting the VAD team, being present with you at appointments if you wish, helping you prepare questions for your medical team, and supporting you in communicating your wishes with those around you. My role is to walk alongside you, easing the weight of logistics so you can focus on what matters most to you.
Planning & Preparation:
Together we can work through the practical details, so the process feels calm, grounded, and intentional. This might include helping you think about the environment you’d like to be in, who you want present, how you’d like the space to feel, and any rituals, music, or words that matter to you. It can also include supporting your communication with loved ones, arranging practical needs, and ensuring your wishes are clearly expressed so you feel held and supported throughout.
Compassionate Presence:
Walking with you through the stages of decision-making and planning, holding steady space for whatever arises along the way.
End-of-Life Presence:
I believe that no one should die alone. If it is your choice, I offer my presence to be with you in your final moments, ensuring you feel held, witnessed, and not alone. I can also be alongside your family and loved ones, offering gentle support and holding space for their needs before, during and afterwards. My intention is to bring calm, compassion, and dignity into this sacred time for everyone present.
My Beliefs
I hold a deep belief that every person has the right to dignity, choice, and control at the end of life. No one should have to walk this path alone. I feel called to create a space of compassion, presence, and respect where your voice is heard, your story is honoured, and your choices are supported with integrity and care.
I also believe that even in our final days, there can be moments of meaning, connection and peace. End of life is not only a time of endings, but also of reflection, love, and the weaving together of what matters most.
My role is to support you in creating space for these moments, whether through conversation, silence, ritual, or simple being present. For me, this work is not just about accompanying someone through death but about honouring the fullness of their life and the depth of their humanity right until the very end.
