Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop in some who have experienced a traumatic event that threatened their life or safety, or that of others around them. The event could have been a physical or sexual assault, war, torture, an accident (e.g. car/plane/train), or a natural disaster (e.g. earthquake/fire/flood). Although individual traumas may differ, many symptoms, feelings, and thoughts are the same among those with PTSD.
